MPATHY is an artistic endeavor which began many years ago as my personal brainchild. From my very first biology classes in high school I have always envisioned science as an art form, but scientists and artists are not usually “business oriented.” We are, by nature, dreamers. My scientific and artistic background, together with Mark’s background in customer experience and business management, was the perfect amalgam to create MPATHY.
Mark is both my muse and my motivator on this journey. His influence has encouraged me to explore my artistic self within the context of pathology, and my excitement and love of my profession has grown greater with the ability to share it with the public. Discovering the microscopic wonder of the human condition and finding beauty in imperfections is what gave life to MPATHY. I’m proud to have a vessel through which we can give back to organizations that support research to improve humanity’s wellbeing.

Dr. Mary Landau
I was born in Huntington, WV in 1964. The artistic mind seems to run in my family – my mother and grandmother were artists. I remember painting and drawing with my mother, and I have continued to work with pen, ink, and watercolors throughout my adult life.
I graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Biology. I then attended medical school at Duke University and graduated in the top five percent of my class. My residency and fellowship training were at Washington University in St. Louis. Upon completion I became triple board certified by the American Boards of Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Dermatopathology. I have practiced in Phoenix, Arizona for eighteen years and made diagnostic interpretations on well over 300,000 cases.
During my career, I’ve always looked for opportunities to combine my loves of science and art – I co-authored two medical textbook chapters for which I had the even greater honor of creating the medical illustrations for these chapters. I have also done medical illustrations for a cookbook catering to ALS and stroke or trauma victims who have difficulties with swallowing. And now I have the good fortune of combining my passions for these fields into this exciting new project, MPATHY.
I am proud of my blended family with five fabulous adult children and a saint for a spouse. In my free time I love to cook and throw great parties.
Every MPATHY collection is derived from real biopsy slides.
In her spare time, Dr. Landau experiments with watercolor and illustration.
I was born in Redondo Beach, CA and had the quintessential California childhood (i.e., lots of time at the beach). While I don’t share my beautiful wife’s educational background, I do bring 27+ years of customer experience training design and facilitation to the table, the last six of which have been spent running my own company as a successful independent contractor.
As my wife’s combination of medical knowledge and artistic talent serves the visual element of MPATHY’s objectives, I offer my extensive knowledge in providing a premium experience to ensure our clients receive the best care possible during their interactions with us, so that they come away with a shared passion for our unique art and the cause it supports.
I echo my wife’s feelings about our wonderful children, and when I’m not working, you’ll find me out on the golf course or tinkering with my “toy,” a beautiful 2002 BMW M3.
